Greetings are actually wishes that we convey to others when they do or achieve something, come across a new change or a something new has happened to them or their lives. Though these days we can send an instant message to greet anyone but the traditional way of greeting is writing a letter. A greeting letter can be a private or an official one. The only difference is that you have to keep in mind to which you are writing, a formal greeting obviously can not be drafted the way we write an informal or personal note, to our friends and family.
The style of writing both types of greeting letters is almost same; the only difference is that the selection of words and style of drafting is a bit different. You should start your letter with a date mentioned, and then you should address the person, salutations vary according to the type of the letter. In a formal letter you can write “dear”, whereas; in an informal letter you can write more casual words like “dearest, sweet, hi, hello”. While starting body of the letter you have to be quite particular about what you are writing, in a formal note, on the contrary while writing an informal note, you can write a casual line and can communicate at the level of your ease.
An informal greeting letter provides more space as it is easy to interact with your friends, you can also add reference or the memories that you share with one you are writing to. No matter whom you are writing, your letter should have the true feeling of what you are greeting, assure your recipient that it matters a lot to you to wish him or her and that the wishes are straight from heart. Selection of words should be appropriate and strong enough to leave a positive impact on the reader. End your letter with a complementary clause, for an informal letter you can write (sincerely, truly, warmly, best wishes) but in an informal letter you can adopt a casual style adding words like (love, thinking of you, much love).
